Since i didn`t like the effect it does (character turning black as soon as he sneaks and during combat) i dropped it again, but the effect stayed. It is realy annoying since i can`t see very well while crouching with a bow.

Ebony Mail
The Ebony Mail is an artifact created by the Daedric Prince Boethiah. It is heavy armor and enchanted with a muffle effect as well as a unique area effect that inflicts 5 points of poison damage per second on the health of nearby opponents. It can be improved with an ebony ingot. It is awarded to you by Boethiah for completing the quest Boethiah's Calling.
Tnb bluetooth dongle driver. In appearance, the Ebony Mail is not too different from ordinary ebony armor, aside from the absence of shoulder pauldrons, a black chainmail texture replacing the cloth areas, and minor color changes. Sound city real to reel zip codes. The most unique feature of the Ebony Mail is its 'poison cloak' enchantment, which activates when the wearer is sneaking or when an enemy is nearby. While active, the armor gives off a black/green-colored smoke and all parts of the wearer (including weapons but not hair and facial hair) appear a shadowy black. Most hostile creatures or NPCs affected by the poison cloak will take on a similar silhouetted appearance.

Notes[edit]
- The value of the Muffle effect is set to 1, so the Ebony Mail alone completely eliminates all noise from your armor. However, the Muffle effect for the Ebony Mail only activates while you are in sneak mode.
- The Ebony Mail armor is the lightest heavy armor cuirass and has the best defense-to-weight ratio (1.61) in the game. Three materials have a better basic armor rating, daedric, dragonplate, and stalhrimDB, but are all much heavier. Dragonplate and stalhrim have only one point of armor rating more, while daedric has three, while they are 14, 12, and 22 points heavier, respectively. Choosing Ebony Mail over the other sets is a small loss of defense (which has a maximum limit achievable without the best armor), in exchange for a relatively large amount of carrying space.
- The enchantment on the Ebony Mail has several drawbacks:
- Getting too close to any non-allied NPC can trigger the poison aura, effectively attacking the NPC. This effect also can cause pickpocketing and sneaking to fail where it would normally succeed. - The poison aura is however quite useful when swimming as it can kill slaughterfish.
- The smoke emitted by the poison cloak can obscure a significant part of the screen in first-person view and thus interfere with your ability to see enemies while in combat; the effect is especially noticeable when you are stationary or aiming a bow.
- Brawling while wearing the Ebony Mail violates the rules of a brawl and will give you an assault bounty.
- This issue has been addressed by version 1.2.4 of the Unofficial Skyrim Patch; the poison cloak enchantment will no longer cause unintended damage during brawls.
- Because of all these drawbacks, you may want to consider giving the Ebony Mail to your follower.
- Followers do not benefit from Fortify Carry Weight enchantments, the Steed Stone, or the Conditioning perk; Ebony Mail is an excellent choice to mitigate this limitation (see second note).
- The problems that the poison cloak causes regarding sneaking and pickpocketing can be easily worked around by having your follower wait a safe distance away.
- Followers do not get involved in a brawl, so they will not assault your opponent with the poison cloak.
- The Ebony Mail can be used as a radar: it will activate the smoke effect as soon as a creature or NPC goes hostile.
Bugs[edit]
- The Champion of Boethiah will re-equip this armor every time he is revived with Dead Thrall, which can be exploited for infinite gold and powerful armor for your followers.
- This bug is fixed by version 1.5 of the Official Skyrim Patch.
- Prior to the last official patch, the Ebony Mail, like all ebony armor, was not considered heavy armor for the purposes of the Matching Set perk.
- This bug is fixed by version 1.9 of the Official Skyrim Patch.
- During the quest Diplomatic Immunity, the armor has a tendency to be absent from the chest with the smuggled items. Avoid giving Malborn the armor. ?

This nice armor is supposed to compensate the deficiencies of its 'heavy armor' status with a constant muffle effect while sneaking (it's still better to wear light boots, bracers and helmet, though).
The enchantment will stop working the moment a hostile creature/NPC is around and it will be replaced by a 'ward' type of effect which will cause a small, costant damage to nearby foes.
A major problem I noticed happens when potential threats are not full hostile but in 'search mode' (eye half open): the muffle effect will be deactivated although the armor won't immediately activate the other protective spell. Most of the time, this premature disabling of the muffle effect will make my character plainly visible to nearby enemies because the penalties for sneaking in heavy armor will be back in full effect.
I believe this is an oversight in the design of the armor, not to mention that the 'cool' shadow is also quite annoying during combat or while using the bow to take long range shots. There's a MOD do disable the graphic effect but I don't think I've seen anying to fix the odd behavior of the armor which makes it much less useful than it appears at a first glance.
